TEXAS TRASH OFF 2011: SATURDAY, APRIL 2nd, 2011

Dear family and friends:
It is that time of the year again...the time when our family group gathers to take part in this annual event not only to help keep Texas highways beautiful and clean, but to honor and to remember Philip!!!
We always have fun and we always welcome ALL participants!!!
The start time is always at 8:00 A.M.so that we may finish up early and to take advantage of the cooler weather.
Most often this event is capped off with a get-together of food, goodies/desserts, and always with good conversation.
Note: more details on a possible post-event gathering later.

Today is Monday - June 8th, 2009 and there are just 5 MORE DAYS UNTIL THE BLESSED OCCASION.

Erica & Nick asked me to piece together a movie from some of their pics. The movie has come along rather nicely if I must say. I have created, produced and edited it and uploaded some of my company logos to paste onto it. I am venturing out into turning this into another home-based business. As for the music pieces, I ripped and burned some songs in a form of a medley which I also believe they will enjoy. I was very careful and picky as to each selection and each song has a meaning which will coincide, of course, with each scene in the movie. I allowed my sis, Josie, and my niece, Alex, a preview of it and they liked it. My dear sis even cried and insists that we should have a box of kleenex at each of the tables. I was really convinced it was a tear-jerker of a movie when Sara even admitted that it made her teary-eyed the very first time she saw it.

Josie has been Erica & Nick's wedding coordinator and she has also outdone herself. Many of us have pulled together to get things ready & tweaked for this awesome event. The Midlanders have been brought closer together because of the wedding and for that we are grateful.

I am not sure how we (family) will get through the wedding as Erica is the first to wed in such a grand fashion. Her guest list to-date has gone from 150 guests to 250 guests. Her and Nick are going to wed in a traditional Catholic wedding Saturday morning in Big Spring then they will have the photographer take the traditional pics then everyone is off to the reception followed by the traditional evening dance. I believe that the movie will be shown somewhere after the food is served and before the dance begins. I am so excited and so happy & eternally grateful that I was asked & allowed the privilege to do this for them. I love Erica as if she were my own daughter and I am very fond of Nick. He is such a great addition to our family.

After their wedding, they are off to DisneyWorld followed by a Disney cruise to the Bahamas (Nassau). And to boot, Erica & Nick have paid for the entire event on their own. For that I am so proud of them as are the rest of us. Anytime any of us tried to pay for anything, they thanked us and gently said 'no'. After each of them graduated from college, they already had great jobs lined up for themselves; each has been with the same respective company for a good amount of time. They are both very intelligent and so level-headed for the young age that they are. They are every family's ideal couple and we are grateful they are in our family. We are indeed a truly blessed family and truly happy. We are in such anticipation for the grand day!!!

CONGRATS to the lovely couple from their respective families!

Nick proposed to Erica during a birthday party which her family hosted for her on Saturday, July 19th, 2008. It was a very special event. Erica was celebrating her 25th birthday in a few days (Weds. 7-23), but had to be in Dallas for classes at SMU for her bank job on the actual day. Our sister, Eva (Erica's Mom), decided to schedule the fandango that particular Sat. before Erica's business trip. No one but a handful of ppl knew what dear Nick had in mind so needless to say, our entire family was taken aback but, in a very good way. The story goes as I was honored to claim witness to it...Nick joined the d.j. on stage a couple of hours into the party and joked that he had been practicing to sing a song for Erica as she had often wanted to hear him sing Karaoke. He managed to bring smiles and laughter to the fairly ambiguous but happy crowd. Ambiguous because if you knew Nick, it is so not like him to be so bold & brazen (I was proud of him). Others in attendance included a handful of slightly raucous ppl who managed to contain their emotions and go about in celebratory fashion - loud fashion (ha, ha). Naturally, since it was a b-day celebration, there were also a scrambled bit of inebriated individuals about the dance hall (La Vedera in Big Spring, TX). All types of folks around, Nick hit a "homerun" as he continued to joke and made everyone laugh and take a relaxed approach to the entire event. It calmed the waters, per se, until the serious speech came about. Nick then proudly announced his love and admiration of Erica and how many years they have been together...it was clear by this point what was coming, and we were right...he semi-proposed on stage then walked over to where Erica was, and true to form as a gentleman would, (good to see that chivalry apparently has not died), he dropped down to one knee and propsed again with the beautiful ring in hand. Erica, being the intelligent person she is and with the splendid & beautiful heart she does indeed possess, said "YES". Clearly, one can tell she loves him and respects him as much as he does her.
I am so proud of them both as are our entire family members. Fun preparations to follow I am certain until the proud day arrives. They will share their love in celebratory-fashion as they recite their nuptials next June 13th, 2009. More data to come as our family continues to make preparations.
